Story-centric editing
Typed segments for anchor reads, VOs, SOTs, packages and live. Live co-editing with cursors. Timing at each anchor’s own reading speed. Word-level history and approval gates for editor, legal and managing editor.
The story
is the atom.
The script, the prompter, the web article and the post are all views of one story. Change it once. It changes everywhere. From the first wire to the last post, nothing is ever copied, and nothing falls out of step.
Five ideas behind Neo
Script, prompter text, web article, social copy, graphics and media live in one story. The rundown and every platform show views of it, never copies.
Each edit is recorded for good. History, undo, audit and reports all come from the same log.
Nothing automated reaches air or a public platform without a named person’s approval. AI proposes; journalists decide.
MOS to playout, graphics and prompters. OpenAPI and GraphQL for developers. OAuth 2.1, and the Model Context Protocol for AI agents.
News in English, Hindi or Tamil, chosen once at install. An English interface everywhere, so training and support are the same.
See it
Real screens from Neo: a rundown on air, a Hindi story with its prompter preview, and the rundown on a phone.

Capabilities
The assignment desk, the anchor’s prompter, the control room and the digital desk, finally looking at the same thing.
Typed segments for anchor reads, VOs, SOTs, packages and live. Live co-editing with cursors. Timing at each anchor’s own reading speed. Word-level history and approval gates for editor, legal and managing editor.
A fast grid for bulletins of 200 rows and more. Back-timing to a hard out, floats, locks during air, breaking-news insert, and each row’s cued, playing or played state straight from playout.
MOS 2.8.3 and 2.6 to playout servers, graphics systems such as Vizrt, and prompters, with story-level updates and automatic resync after a reconnect.
Agency FTP, feeds, mailboxes, WhatsApp forwards, uploads and live feed recording, all in one queue with a breaking-news lane. Nothing unverified reaches air.
Black, freeze and loudness checks on every file. Transcripts in English, Hindi and Tamil and text-in-picture reading, on your own servers.
Website, YouTube, Facebook, X and Instagram from your own accounts, each with approvals, quotas, scheduling, embargo and a kill switch.
Fourteen story tools, from drafting and translation to headlines and fact checks. Every result is a proposal a person confirms, with personal data stripped before any request leaves Neo.
Two-step verification, sign-in that works when the internet is down, per-desk permissions, a full audit trail and protected sources.
Built for the Mac
Neo’s single-server edition puts the entire newsroom (stories, rundowns, MOS, ingest, media and publishing) on one Mac mini with Apple silicon. In Skycast’s own stress test, a 16 GB Mac served 60 people working at once.
A small newsroom of up to 60 people and ten bulletins a day runs on one Mac mini. No server room to build first.
Apple silicon sips power and runs near silent, so Neo can live in the newsroom itself, not behind a locked door with the air conditioning.
Sign-in works when the internet is down, and Neo can answer its own name on the network, so the newsroom keeps going.
Continuous database archiving and point-in-time restore, so every story is safe the moment it is written.
Neo Newsroom on a Mac mini
A complete Neo newsroom runs on a Mac mini. Here is how that compares with a typical broadcast server built on an Intel Core i9 and an NVIDIA RTX 5070.
| Mac mini (M4)1 | Typical broadcast server | |
|---|---|---|
| Price5 | ₹80,000 | about ₹6,50,000 |
| Power | 4 W idle, 65 W maximum | Core i9-14900K up to 253 W plus RTX 5070 250 W, on an 800 W power supply2 |
| Noise | 5 dBA | about 50 dBA under load3 |
| Size | 12.7 × 12.7 × 5.0 cm (0.8 litres) | 4U rack chassis, 43 × 18 × 64 cm (49 litres)4 |

Ready-made device profiles for leading playout, graphics and prompter systems, and open interfaces for everything else.

Languages
English, Hindi or Tamil, chosen once and honoured everywhere: the keyboard, the spell-check, the timing, the print. Anything that arrives in another language is flagged and offered for translation before it can go anywhere near air.

Deployment
Every newsroom runs its own Neo on its own hardware, and a small newsroom’s whole system fits on a single Mac. It arrives on a USB drive with its documentation and checksums. No licence key. No surprises.
From the first wire to the last word on air. We’ll show you every step.
